Profile

Rasmus Lerdorf is a Danish programmer who created the PHP programming language.

Lerdorf was born in Greenland but grew up in Denmark and Canada. He studied Systems Design Engineering at University of Waterloo and has been working as an Infrastructure Architecture Engineer at Yahoo!

Lerdorf created the PHP in 1995 and has participated in the development of the later versions of the programming language. He was also a member of Apache HTTP Server Core Development Team and part Apache Software Foundation board of directors in 2000.

Lerdorf has been named to MIT/Technology Review’s 2003 list of Top 100 Young Innovators and he is a frequent speaker at Open Source conferences around the world.

Apart from developing Open Source software his interests include traveling, internet, languages and football.
